Ozzy Not Interested in Performing 'Blizzard of Ozz' for Anniversary

Ozzy Osbourne says he has no intention of performing his debut solo album, Blizzard of Ozz, in its entirety for its 40th anniversary on his upcoming farewell tour.

Osbourne's Not More Tours 2 farewell tour will hit its home stretch in 2020, the year of the 40th anniversary of his first solo album.

The heavy metal icon told Rolling Stone he's never made a solo album where all the tracks were intended to be performed live, so doing a full album on tour doesn't make any sense.

"When I make an album, I specifically record songs that I'll never do on the stage," he said. "Like on Blizzard Of Ozz, there are songs that I wrote never to play live, because the production was too heavy."

Osbourne has addressed similar questions in the past. He once told Pulse of Radio that many of his album cuts are too difficult for him to sing live in their original keys.

While No More Tours 2 is being marketed as a farewell tour, Osbourne says he's not retiring. He says he can't stomach walking away from the stage entirely, but he does want to quit traveling so often.

"I'm still going to be doing gigs," he say, "but I'm not going on tour for six months at a time anymore. I'd like to spend some time at home. I've experienced fantastic things; it's been an incredible journey. I just need to slow down a little."

Ozzy and his wife/manager Sharon Osbourne have seven grandchildren, and at least one more on the way.

Ozzy says it's important to him to be a grandfather and not let "go through another generation of Osbournes without seeing them grow up."

Ozzy retired Black Sabbath last March with his co-founding bandmates guitarist Tony Iommi and bassist Geezer Butler.

The decision to end Black Sabbath was based largely on concerns surrounding Iommi's long-term health.

Last fall, when Ozzy was asked if he'll ever officially retire from performing, he replied, "Not until they put me in a pine box."
